The Total Lunar Eclipse & The Krononaut Moon: Welcome Time Travelers!

There will be 3 Total Lunar Eclipses over the next year. These are the Nights of the Krononaut Moon, when Time Travelers are invited to visit or send us a quantum signal. Krononaut Moon “observations, experimentations & celebrations” will occur on these dates. All are invited to participate (here & in the beyond) with whomever you like, however you like, and wherever you are.

  • Friday, March 14, 2025 @ 07:00 UTC
    On Thursday the 13th &/or Friday the 14th, venture out under the Moon & Stars.
     
  • Sunday, September 7, 2025 @ 18:00 UTC
    Sep 07 will be the 2nd Total Lunar Eclipse & 2nd Krononaut Moon of 2025.
     
  • Tuesday, March 3, 2026 @ 12:00 UTC
    2026 Mar 03 will be the 3rd for now, after which there will be no more Total Lunar Eclipses in the current cycle — no Krononaut Moons & no Time Tavelers — for a couple of years. We will be taking a break until 2028, when the cycle picks back up again. Note that we are focusing our efforts on Lunar Eclipses that are Total (in the middle of the night, during a Full Moon). We use these to sync up our connections with the Time Travelers. We disregard solar eclipses and any partial or penumbral eclipses. This website will always have the correct dates and other info.

The project is undergoing major revisions in 2025. The Nights of all Krononaut Moon “experimentations, observations & celebrations” will now coincide with Total Lunar Eclipses (TLEclipses or TLEs), of which there will be two in 2025: Friday 2025 March 14 @ 07:00 UTC, and Sunday 2025 September 07 @ 18:00 UTC. 2026 will experience one TLEclipse, on Tuesday 2026 March 03 @ 12:00 UTC. The periodicity of Total Lunar Eclipses is very complex (making Krononaut Moon a complicated “moveable feast”), averaging around one in 13 months. Lunar Eclipses of all types only occur during the Full Moon. There can be no Lunar Eclipse without a Full Moon. Note that most Lunar Eclipses are not total. They can also be classified as penumbral or partial — similar to Solar Eclipses. For purposes of The Krononaut Moon Project we disregard these other, non-total Lunar Eclipses.
